Dhaka


Dhaka, is the capital of Bangladesh and the principal city of Dhaka District. 
Dhaka is a megacity and one of the major cities of South Asia. Located on the banks of the Buriganga River, Dhaka, along with its metropolitan area, has a population of over 12 million, making it the largest city in Bangladesh. It is also one of the most densely populated cities in the world. Dhaka is known as the City of Mosques and renowned for producing the world's finest muslin. As a cosmopolitan city, Dhaka has been the center of Persio-Arabic and Western cultural influences in eastern Indian Subcontinent. Today it serves as one of the prime centers for culture, education and business in the region.

 Sonargaon (Bengali: সোনারগাঁও; also transcribed as Sunārgāon) or Sunargaon or Suratân was the administrative center of medieval Muslimrulers of East Bengal. It became as the capital of Bengal during Isa Khan's ruling. The area falls under present-day Narayanganj District,Bangladesh. Today the name Sonargaon survives as Sonargaon Upazila in that district.
